Never understated, the National Republican Campaign Committee has a new attack ad out featuring Congressman Dennis Moore...and scary Arabic chanting.
The message: Vote for Kris Kobach or the Muslims will kill your children.
Using terrorist attacks for political gain, the ad first lists off a series of attacks running from the World Trade Center all the way back to the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon.*
Utilizing the same distortions and issues we've seen from Kobach, the NRCC first breaks from President Bush to attack Moore for not supporting putting troops on the border.
Then the same wild distortion used in the NRCC's earlier mailer on the intelligence budget makes an appearance.
And in a new attack, the NRCC claims Moore opposes "information sharing within our own intelligence community," failing to mention that the vote they cite actually would have begun to involve the military in law enforcement, abandoning more than a century of American law banning the military from domestic law enforcement actions.
But really, who needs to cite actual votes, when you can just run footage of terrorists, overdub something in Arabic, and claim that we're less safe if your opponent is elected?
* We find it ironic that the Lebanon attack is cited, given that it has been said that President Reagan's subsequent withdrawal of U.S. forces from Lebanon showed terrorists that the Untied States could be cowed and forced to change policy by an attack. Even Osama bin Laden himself cites the withdrawal in his hateful incitements to his followers.
